MIGRATE news from abroad

presentation: Prof. Mart van der Meijden from TenneT presentED the project while the IEEE PESGM in Boston, USA.

Prof. Mart van der Meijden from TenneT got the opportunity to present the project while the IEEE PESGM in Boston, USA. The title of his presentation was: Challenges to Operate a Large Transmission Grid with Minimal or No Connected Synchronous Generators - Going Towards 100% Penetration of Power Electronics-Interfaced Generation. Over 150 people had listened to his speech followed by a panel session. During this session many interesting question have been raised like: Should we aim for a zero inertia system and 100% power electronic devices? However, the quintessence of the discussion was that research is essential and quite important, it doesn’t matter whether the share of PE is 65%, 81% or 100% in the future. The stakeholders are interested to get more information about the project and MIGRATE have been invited to presented the first project results at the next IEEE PESGM conference in 2017. Good to see the international exchange and knowledge sharing.
